V dňoch 28. augusta až 5. septembra 2026 bude Spišská Nová Ves hostiť 39. Majstrovstvá sveta FAI v parašutizme. Toto podujatie predstavuje absolútny vrchol športového skydivingu – prestížny ekvivalent olympijských hier pre parašutistov. Prvýkrát v histórii sa svetová elita zíde na Spiši, aby si zmerala sily v disciplínach vyžadujúcich technickú dokonalosť a milimetrovú precíznosť.

V dňoch 28. augusta až 5. septembra 2026 sa letisko v Spišskej Novej Vsi premení na celosvetové centrum klasického parašutizmu. Spiš má tú česť vôbec po prvýkrát v histórii hostiť 39. majstrovstvá sveta FAI v disciplínach presnosť pristátia a individuálna akrobacia.
This championship represents the absolute pinnacle of competitive skydiving. For competitors from dozens of countries around the world, it is the event toward which years of hard training and sacrifice have been directed - it is their own equivalent of the Olympic Games. The world’s skydiving elite will gather in the skies above Spišská Nová Ves to compete for the top medals in the two oldest and most technically demanding disciplines.

1. EVENT VENUE
Compact Skydive, Letecká 37, 052 01 Spišská Nová Ves, Slovak Republic, is a 50 hectare sports airport. This huge airport is also surrounded by fields and grassy areas, which provide plenty of space in case of any landing. This is perceived as one of the safest airport locations that competitors have ever experienced.
The grass airport is equipped with a drainage system and we can act quickly in the event of heavy rain.

The airport is more or less part of the city of Spišská Nová Ves (population 38,000). The city center is approximately 2.00 km away from our airport.

The city of Spišská Nová Ves is easily accessible by highway or train. The venue of the Compact Skydive competition is located near the highway

5. WEATHER
The weather in Spišská Nová Ves at the end of August and the beginning of September is generally pleasant and very suitable for skydiving. It marks the transition from the end of summer to the beginning of autumn.
Average daytime temperatures usually range from 20°C to 25°C, providing comfortable conditions for competitors. However, mornings and evenings can be quite cool, with temperatures occasionally dropping to 10°C to 15°C. We recommend bringing warmer clothing to keep you warm during the morning jumps. Winds are generally light to moderate. Although the weather is mostly stable, there may be occasional late summer showers or brief morning fog, which usually clears up quickly.
Daylight (sunrise and sunset):
Počas súťažných dní je východ slnka približne medzi 5:50 a 6:00 a západ slnka medzi 19:20 a 19:30. To poskytuje dostatok denného svetla na plánovanie a dokončenie súťažných kôl.
